FAQs
What is Honua Hangouts? Honua Hangouts is a casual, drop-in space for advice, mentorship, and connection. It’s a welcoming place where you can ask questions, get feedback, and meet new people.
When does it happen? We meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:00 PM Hawaiʻi Time.
Who can attend? Anyone! Whether you’re a student, early-career professional, or just looking to connect, you’re welcome.
What can I get help with? Resume feedback, Academic and career advice, Grad school or job application questions, Navigating opportunities in STEM, General life guidance, “Talk story” and network with others
Is this a tutoring service? No. While we’re happy to offer guidance and support, Honua Hangouts is not a tutoring space for coursework or assignments.
Do I need to sign up? Nope! It’s drop-in and casual. Come by whenever we’re open.
What should I bring? Bring yourself and any questions you have! If you want feedback on something specific (like a resume), having it on hand helps.
Is it one-on-one or group-based? It’s in a single Zoom room—whoever is in is in! It’s an open, informal space. Sometimes it’s a group chat, other times it’s more like a queue with people waiting for more specific advice.
Is there a cost? No—it’s completely free.
